WHO WE ARE

Urban Rural Development Organization-Uganda (URUDO-Uganda) has been an operational Community Based Organization (CBO) in Uganda since 2009.  Over years, URUDO-Uganda has made a significant contribution to civil society and the communities it works with respect to promoting education of the vulnerable girls, vocational skills among the youth, environmental protection and conservation practices, water, sanitation and hygiene.

URUDO-Uganda was founded for the specific purpose of strengthening community resilience through biodiversity conservation, education and vocational skills development. URUDO-Uganda believes that empowering girls through education, youth vocational skills and conservation of nature are key to creating sustainable communities.

empowering girls through education

URUDO-Uganda empowers the girls through education. An educated girls overcomes the cultural barriers  that looked  at girls as assets for marriage by the parents-girls for bride wealth – which  denied  them gainful employment and expose them to domestic violence in homes and subsequently poverty.

Conservation of nature

Man and the environment should be living in harmony and man should depend on the environment for survival in a more sustainable way for the present and future generations. However, this has not been the case given the global increase in population that has led to many  natural forests and wetland areas being cleared for farming,

Youth vocational skills

URUDO-Uganda through the out of school vocational skills projects has restored hope to the unemployed hopeless out of school youth through hands on in various vocations such as tailoring, carpentry, welding and metal fabrication, computer practice and application, motor vehicle/motor cycle mechanics

DONATE FOR A NOBLE CAUSE

OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH VOCATIONAL SKILLS PROJECT
We seek donations to support our forthcoming project.

120 out-of-school youth will be empowered with vocational skills, advocating for self employment and self-reliance campaigns among the youth and supporting the youth with start up kits. The project shall run for 12 months. In furtherance of the objectives of the project, partnerships with local artisans using learn by doing strategy will be established. The project will further pursue a participatory and Rights Based Approach (RBA) to ensure that project beneficiaries and community meaningfully and actively participates in the project cycle.
